Step 05

Application Planning

A clear private school timeline makes the admissions process far more manageable. Begin during the summer with your candidate profile, SSAT or ISEE preparation, and early essay ideas. Then reserve campus visits and interview dates before popular slots fill. Starting ahead gives you room to balance school and activities while improving each part of the application instead of rushing everything near the deadline.

Start Early

Starting early is as great as it sounds! It really does feel good to be done with your application and chilling, while everyone else is panicking!

Over the summer, I recommend starting the Candidate Profile and SSAT/ISEE prep as well. Starting essays then will also help, even if it is a rough draft!

Scheduling Visit / Interview Dates

As much as you might be surprised, these dates run out quickly due to high demand and fewer slots.

Some schools have a monthly schedule while others have a full year one.

Make sure you have them planned sometime during summer, or at the latest, late fall / early winter.
